Legend Weaver: The Making of Heroes

Heroes, One and All

You can download Legend's manual here. The manual is broken into five main sections. As I update sections, I have been putting a Version Number on them (changing things to reflect player feedback). If it does not have a version number on it, then it is version one. Following the Main Rules is a series of files that are meant for the Legend Weaver (game master). These files give specific rule information that will help the Legend Weaver run his or her game.

File Formats

The files here are currently in PDF format. Although time has shown me that this was not the best format to use, I am for the time being going to continue to make use of it (at least until I can see what else is out there). In any case, when you download the files, you will want to make sure you have the latest version of the reader (see below for the link).

If you do not have Adobe's Acrobat Reader...

These files should download fairly quickly. If they do not then updating to the latest version of the reader should fix the problem. Newer files were converted using the latest version of the conversion program so backward compatibility may be an issue. You can get a faster download by right clicking the file and saving it directly onto your hard drive using the Save Target As option. I myself experienced a problem when I went to update the reader. Although the new reader was installed, the previous version of the reader was left intact and the documents still loaded into it if viewing them on the web (which gave me problems). I had to uninstall the original before installing the new version to correct the problem.

Legal Stuff

By making this material available on the net I do not give up any rights in regards to this material. You may reproduce what is here for personal use only. If you submit something to this web site and it is added to the site, then the material added is yours. Just realize that there is no compensation (other than having your name plastered all over it) for material that is going to be given away for free. I will eventually be adding a sales section to the web site but that is not for awhile and in any case, I will not offer for sale any material submitted to the site and offered to other gamers for free.

Recent Updates and Changes

I have added this section to give dates and time for my most recent updates and additions. It should make it a bit easier for you to see what is new and what has been changed.

Latest Additions

Main   Pdf Format Added May 15, 2001 (33 pages)
Main Reference Manual.
This file now combines many of the single page documents previously found in this section. It's intent is to two fold; one, to cut down on the number of one page documents, and two, I want to start making a proper main reference manual on how things work in the game.
You will have to forgive me, but this document does not have an index or table of contents. As I am learning, PDF files are not all they are cracked up to be. I have been using Adobe's online conversion service and have found out (much to my dismay) that the only way to get my documents to look the same before and after I submit them, is to actually buy Adobe's PDF writer. At the moment, I am finding it hard to justify paying over $200.00 so I can add an index to material I let people have for free.
This document now contains the following sections / headings: Aegis Stones, Alignment, Artifacts, Control, Creation Magic, Curses, Doors and Locks, Falling and Fall Damage, Invisible Opponents, Money, Mounts and Riding Skill, NPC Characteristics, Psychic Impressions, Resolve Stat, Safe Havens and Healing, Sights, Sleep and Waking Up, Spectral Dead, Threat, Weight and Encumbrance, and Worship.

Game Files

Version 1.1a notes
Version 1.1a incorporates many minor changes and corrections based on feedback and play testing. It also gives a set of guidelines and suggestions for players making their own spells.

Generating a Character
V1.1a
Section 1, 27 Pages

Pdf format This section walks you through the Legend's Character Creation Process.
Character Races
V1.1a
Section 2, 27 Pages
Pdf format
Html Format
Legend currently lets you choose from 12 separate races. This document describes each race and lets you know its strengths and weaknesses. The HTML document allows you to check out Legend's races on–line as well as letting you know if there have been any changes since Section 2, Version 1.1 of the manual was uploaded.
Skills
V1.1a
Section 3, 33 Pages
Pdf format This section describes how Legend's Skill System works and lists the skills available to a character. Legends skill system is very interdependent. Many of the skills work with other skills to allow you to perform more actions. For example, it takes the Balance, Animal Husbandry and Riding Craft skills to successfully ride a flying mount. This actually makes for a lot of subtlety when developing a character.
Combat
V1.1a
Section 4, 43 Pages
Pdf format This section describes how Legend's Combat System works. The system is not as intimidating as you might think (being 37 pages long). Once started, combat flows very nicely and it is fairly easy to keep track of what is going on.
Magic System
V1.1a
Section 5a, 15 Pages
Pdf format This section describes Legend's Magic System explains how spells and spell casting work in the world of Panjere.
Spells
V1.1a (85 Spells)
Section 5b, 30 Pages
Pdf format This section lists the spells that are currently available for Legend Weaver; The Making of Heroes. I am listing the number of spells after the version number so players will know if any have been added since the last time they downloaded the document.
Index
For V1.1a
3 Pages
Pdf format This is a basic index for Version 1.1a of the Legend Weaver manual (nothing fancy but it should make the manual easier to use).

The following sections are included as an aid to the fledgling Legend Weaver and for some that are just curious. This list will grow as time goes by (and more people request things). These files should help the Legend Weaver understand the game world of Panjere and provide information on aspects of the game not covered in the first five sections of the manual.

Armor Pdf format    This document allows you to generate magic armor for the game.
Character Races   Races.html Viewable online only. This is included so you can have a look at the races you can play when taking part in a Legend Weaver, the Making of Heroes adventure. These races are covered under Section 2 of the Manual found above.
Character Race Chart Pdf Format This is a table overview of the Legend's races. It makes it a bit easier when you want to compare the basic stats of the various races. However, when you look at this table, keep in mind that there are more to the races than what is listed here. Each race has many inherent strengths and weaknesses that are not listed on the table.
Character Sheets Pdf Format I have made four versions for the character sheet which can be used depending on the character's focus. I hope to refine these as I get feedback.
Combat Sheet Pdf Format This combat sheet has been submitted by BJ Shanchuck. Thanks BJ! It makes the combats a bit easier to run, especially if you are new to the game (the information you need during a combat is arranged so that it is easier to find).
Equipment Table V1.1a  Pdf Format This is the most up to date version of the equipment table.
Equipment Sheet Pdf Format
Zipped Pdf Format
This should help your player's keep track of the all the junk their character's pack around (at least some of it anyway).
Hit Locations Pdf Format This is an optional set of rules that give a fast and easy way of handling hit locations. The idea behind them was submitted by Dave Vershaw. Thanks Dave!!!
Legendary
Deities!
Go Now! This is a link to take you to the list of deities currently available in the game.
Magic Items  Pdf format This is my fourth and final magic item document (for awhile anyways). It features pregenerated magic items that can be found in the world of Panjere. Most of the items in these pages represent knowledge lost to the world so although you can still find the item, there is no way to know how it was made.
Main Pdf format Main Reference Manual. This file now combines many of the single page documents previously found in this section. It's intent is to two fold; one, to cut down on the number of one page documents, and two, I want to start making a proper main reference manual on how things work in the game.
This document now contains the following sections / headings: Aegis Stones, Alignment, Artifacts, Control, Creation Magic, Curses, Doors and Locks, Falling and Fall Damage, Invisible Opponents, Money, Mounts and Riding Skill, NPC Characteristics, Psychic Impressions, Resolve Stat, Safe Havens and Healing, Sights, Sleep and Waking Up, Spectral Dead, Threat, Weight and Encumbrance, and Worship.
Malfunction Potions Pdf Format Submitted by BJ Sanchuck. Malfunction potions are potions that do not work as they were intended. Most of the time their affects are very funny, although they can be a real pain to the character to drink them.
Monsters! Go Now! This is a link to take you to the set of monster stat sheets currently available for the game.
Potions  Pdf Format This is the first of the Magic Item documents. It lists the Potions, Pastes and Salves available to the characters in the game. Potions grant a huge variety of affects and abilities. The downside to them is that their magic is of a temporary nature and there is often negative affects when two or more potions are active in the character's system at the same time.
Terms Pdf Format A list of the most common terms you will find in the game.
Weapons  Pdf Format This is the second of the magic item documents. It allows you to generate magic weapons. The tables allow for a fairly large variety of magic weapons from weak to powerful with a large variety of powers.

I would like to thank the following people who have taken the time to download and play Legend Weaver, the Making of Heroes and provide me with feedback. It is greatly appreciated!
