Description
Rhodochrosite is related to calcite and siderite, and often occurs in distinctive pink-colored bands. It may also occur with quartz. Its rosy color is derived from the manganese it contains. This mineral is a minor ore of manganese and an ornamental and semi-precious stone. However the minerals softness and brittleness limit its uses as a gemstone.
