Also Known As
Rock crystal (clear variety)
Cairngorm (smoky quartz)
Morion (almost black smoky quartz)
Description
Quartz comes in two forms: crystallized, and microcrystalline. Colorless crystals are known as rock crystal, while other colored varieties are known as: amethyst (violet); citrine (yellow-brown); smoky quartz (gray to black); and rose quartz (pink). A special variety of small, brilliant, double terminated clear quartz crystals are known as Herkimer diamonds.
Chalcedony is a microscopically crystallized translucent variety of quartz, commonly with banding. Agate is a form of chalcedony.
The chert, flint, and jasper group are also varieties of microscopically grained crystallized quartz, but without definite banding or translucency.
Natural rock crystal can generate an electric charge if subjected to heat (pyroelectric). An electric current can also be generated if the crystal is put under strain (piezoelectric).

Crystal Information
See below for the list of colors and configurations.
Due to the massive amount of information available for quartz, the information is broken up by special name (if any - look under quartz if there isn't a special name), color and configuration. So, for example, if you were a looking for information on a citrine point, with a phantom and a diamond window, you'd look up Citrine, then Quartz, phantom section, and finally Quartz, diamond window section. For information on rose quartz, look under Quartz, Rose.
The totality of the information will provide you with the overview of the properties of that particular crystal.
Polished and worked natural quartz crystals react to their working by increasing their storage capacity and being better able to direct its stream of power.
When purchasing a crystal, do not be deterred from getting one with fractures and inclusions. Many of these internal fractures can look like ethereal doorways or miniature landscapes of another world.
Quartz absorbs, stores, releases, and regulates energy, and is excellent for unblocking energy.
