Description
True sunstone is a form of plagioclase feldspar that crystallizes in the form of masses and, rarely, as tabular crystals. It has tiny inclusions of hematite or goethite, which produce reflections of red, green, or orange glitter. In some senses true sunstone resembles an orange opal with its multicolored flash. Manmade sunstone is called Oregon goldstone.
