Description
Found to date only along the Chary river at Aldan in Russian, this purple stone is formed by the alteration of limestone by the close presence of an alkali-rich inclusion. Charoite is used as an ornamental stone and as a gemstone. It forms a swirling pattern of interlocking crystals and has the appearance of purple marble. The color is white, lavender, lilac, violet, and / or purple and is transparent to translucent.
