Tumbled Unakite - the pink is feldspar
Tumbled Unakite - the pink is feldspar

Description

This group of minerals could be considered as varieties of a single mineral species. On this grounds, feldspar rather than quartz, could be considered the most common of all minerals. All are aluminum silicates of soda, potash, or lime (with a few rarer varieties) and are closely related in structure and composition. There are several precious forms of feldspar. These include amazonite (the green gem variety of microcline), labradorite (albite), moonstone (a milky, opalescent variety of adularia orthoclase), and sunstone.
